Located in the forested valleys of Mill and Jordan Creeks, Lake Macbride State Park is the largest state park in Iowa and it offers a wide variety of outdoor activities like fishing, boating, camping, hiking and picnicking. The park's beach area offers refreshments and swimming is restricted to this designated area only. Whatever outdoor activity you have in mind, Lake Macbride State park is sure to meet your needs.

There are multi-use trails which wind for miles around the lake, and bird watchers are encouraged to come and spot almost every songbird native to the region. Spring and fall bring shorebirds, waterfowl and ospreys. Winter attracts cross-country skiers and snowmobilers.

There is a 5 mi crushed limestone multi-use trail located on the north side of the late which connects the park to the community of Solon. It is very popular with bikers. Most of the trail runs along Lake Macbride's shoreline, but several parts pass through wooded forest or alongside restored Iowa prairie.
