State: Rhode Island
Age: 25
Bio: As a young child, my parents would take my to Roger Wheeler State Beach (affectionately know to the locals as Sand Hill Cove) every summer. As soon as I was old enough, I applied for a position in the State of RI, DEM, Parks & Recreation seasonal program. I worked seasonally throughout high school and college in a number of positions in the Division, including Campground Clerk, Park Ranger and Seasonal Laborer. After I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Providence College, a full-time position opened up in Parks and Recreation, and I jumped at the chance to spend my professional career doing what I loved, educating patrons and promoting RI's beautiful natural environment. Most recently, I have been a member of the Hundred Years of Parks Committee. I researched and edited the publication, 100 Years of Rhode Island State Parks 1909 - 2009. I am also a member of Great Outdoors Pursuit Committee - The Pursuit is a twelve-week contest that enables teams to decode clues, discover state parks and join in fun activities and challenges. It gives families a chance to reconnect with the great outdoors, discover Rhode Island's beautiful State Parks, explore nature and the environment, enjoy free outdoor activities and Learn how to be more active and live healthy.
