State: Virginia

Park: Shenandoah River State Park

Age: 24

Bio: My name is Josh Widmer and I have lived in VA State Parks all my life. My father is a Park Manager and we currently live in Shenandoah River State Park. I am an avid outdoorsman enjoying hobbies like hunting, fishing, trapping, boating, off-roading, photography, and hiking. You won't find me inside very much no matter what the weather is outside. I also enjoy lifting and my favorite sport by far is basketball! I have worked seasonal park ranger positions at Sky Meadows State Park and Claytor lake State Park and have been a VA State Park volunteer for over 10 years. I went to Warren County High School and then graduated from Virginia Tech in 2009 receiving a Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources Recreation and Conservation as well as a minor in Forestry. I am very close with my family and I recently got engaged to my high school sweetheart Amanda. I want to make a difference in the outdoor fields and share my passion for the outdoors with others which is one reason I wanted to participate in the park ambassador program.
