Down the California Coast to Pigeon Point Lighthouse
So, here it is, January, but here I am on the beach!
Granted, it's not the world's most desired beach weather, and I'm wearing jackets, a scarf and a ushanka from REI, but at least I'm not snowed in on the East Coast! We stopped by quite a few State Beaches on our way down the coast, including San Gregorio, Bean Hollow, and Pescadero. Our final stop was Pigeon Point State Light Station, an old light house no longer open to the public because of its deteriorating state. It still looks quite magnificent, though, sitting on the rocky cliff, flashing its light every 10 seconds. I wandered down to the tide pools and explored the small beach a little before getting a bit too cold and getting back into the car. Good timing, too, because it started raining right after!
