The Historic Staunton River Foundation decked the halls for their annual Christmas Open House on December third and fourth.
The tours started when visitors got off the bus and were led into the house where they we shown southern life in the 1860s. Followed by a tour of the grounds where a rebel encampment had there fire going with food for all, and Paul Carrington in his law office talking about his work as a 1700s lawyer for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
One visitor's comment was: "This is a great house with lots of history, this is a must see."
On a busy summer weekend I visited McIntosh Woods State Park. I noticed this is a popular place for boaters, as many families and fishermen were using the ramp to access Clear Lake the day I was there. (read more...)
On May 4, 2012, 7th graders from the Wheatland School District planted Trees for Wyoming. Sixty students planted 600 saplings at Guernsey State Park with the guidance of State Park staff and National Conservation Corps members (NCC). (read more...)
