Poll: Would You Close State Parks?
State Parks across America spend about $2.3 billion in annual operations and they generate about $20 billion in economic impact. Seems like a pretty good return on investment. At the same time, states across the country are facing declining tax revenues resulting from the worst recession since the great depression. State Legislatures and Governors are wrestling with huge unbalanced budgets. In some cases they are closing parks in response to this budget crisis.
