Three men are now facing federal charges for approaching a group of brown bears while the bears are feeding in the wild back on August 9, 2018.

David Engelman, Ronald J. Engelman II, and Steven Thomas were standing on a viewing platform at the Brooks River in Katmai National Park and Preserve when they went down within 50m into the river while the bears were feeding at Brooks Falls.

The three were charged with federal offenses because they created a hazardous situation for the wild brown bears.
