Noreen Wredberg, of Granite Bay, California found a 4.38-carat yellow diamond just sitting on top of the ground in just an hour of searching at the Crater of Diamonds State Park , Arkansas last September 29, 2021.
It was an amazing find and was deemed to be the largest diamond park within the park for 2021. Its value is yet to be determined.
Noreen and her husband Michael, retired last 2011, and they both spent their free time visiting U.S. state parks.
Noreen spotting a “sparkling gem” just on top of the ground, north of the central pathway. She didn’t know it was a diamond, however, since it was clean and shiny, she picked it up. Upon inspection of the park’s crew, she was pleasantly surprised when they told her it was a yellow diamond.
The diamond is the largest found at the park at 4.38 carats. October last year, another visitor was able to discover a similar 4.49-carat yellow diamond.
Noreen named her crater diamond, “Lucy’s Diamond”, after her husband’s kitten because its fur has slight tints of yellow.
