California State Parks and Recreation Commission voted unanimously to adopt a general plan for the Auburn State Recreation Area last week. This will provide a long-term management direction for the 30,000-acre state park.

Some of the projects include setting up of 142 additional campsites, new and expanded parking areas, day-use facilities, and other recreational facilities. Other facilities would be developed over time in response to demand, resources, and other considerations.

Although wildfires are a major concern, the reality is, so many people are coming in incredible numbers which may make it unamangeable over time so there’s definitely a need to adopt a general plan for the future of Auburn State Recreation Area.
