The Native American Coalition of the Quad Cities along with other councils of the U.S. and Canada held a ceremony to commemorate thousands of indigenous children that were forced to attend government-funded residential schools across the continent.

Across North America, indigenous communities were to do prayer circles.

According to the coalition, more than 6,500 bodies were recovered from mass grave sites within these schools.
