Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park is located 48 miles northeast of Lexington, Kentucky on US 68. The salt springs at Blue Licks date back to prehistoric times and were the center of Indian life for a while as well. Blue Licks is most noted as the site of the final battle in Kentucky of the Revolutionary War. This 150-acre park became a polished resort park in May 1999. It has a nature preserve with hiking trails, an 18-hole miniature golf course, junior-Olympic sized pool, nature preserve, gift shop, picnic areas, and an interesting Pioneer Museum featuring mastodon bones and pioneer artifacts.

The park lodge has 32 rooms with private balconies or patios and full amenities. The gift shop offers Kentucky handcrafts, books, confectioneries and a wide array of other items. Cottages are also available for rent.

Blue Licks is home to the federally-endangered Short’s Goldenrod. This plant is protected in the 15-acre nature preserve at Blue Licks. Short’s Goldenrod is historically linked to the Buffalo Trace hiking trail-the trampled remains of an ancient buffalo path.
