Loggerhead Sea turtles to be released Friday at Gulf State Park

NOAA’s Alabama Sea Turtle Stranding and Salvage Network are releasing loggerhead sea turtles today at the Gulf State Park. The release will take place at the Beach Pavilion at 22250 East Beach Blvd. in Gulf Shores at noon. The sea turtle were rescued at Gulf State Park on August 13 and was transported to Gulfport, Mississippi for rehabilitation at the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies. Source Photo Credit

Calling all registered divers in Alabama state. Gulf State Park Pier is looking for cleanup volunteers to join their Dive for Debris Underwater Cleanup. Gulf State Park Pier offers so many unique adventures for anglers and sightseers. It is a favorite spot for watching the sunrise or sunset, observing wildlife, etc. Unfortunately, garbage build-up has become a problem and it affects the wildlife. Aside from the wildlife, it also affects anglers who get debris tangled into their lines. Gulf State Park Road closing due to sinkholes

A popular scenic route at Gulf State Park will close for repairs as soil erosion has caused sinkholes on the road. Both residents and visitors love to see the scenic views right beside Lake Shelby via Gulf State Park Road however, due to the number of visitors, the road has developed a lot of sinkholes which are being addressed and repaired now. Barricades will be put up beyond the Woodside Restaurant entrance next week. Locals and visitors will be detoured to Highway 59, so expect a bit of traffic congestion in that area.
