California State Parks offer free admission on Veterans Day

California State Parks are honoring the services of U.S. veterans, as well as active and reserve personnel, by offering free admission to 133 state parks on Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021. A full list of the participating park units can be found online at parks.ca.gov/VeteransDay2021. To enter the parks for free, a valid military ID or a California driver’s license identifying the individual as a veteran must be shown to park staff. Source Photo Credit

Rededication festival for Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park

Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park and the Friends of Allensworth will commemorate a Rededication Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9. For this event, 20 of the historic building will be opened to the public and the docents will be dressed in turn-of-the-20th-century fashion while providing tours and living history demonstrations. The event will also have horse and buggy rides, live musical entertainment, home tours, and food vendors of all kinds. Controversial Campsite Expansion At Auburn State Recreation Area Gets Unanimous Approval

Due to concerns of increased wildfire risk, many people are expressing their discontentment about the approval of the Campsite Expansion At Auburn State Recreation Area. Because of an increase in the campsite area, the wildfire incidents may shoot up. Alexandra Stehl, planning chief officer for California State Parks defended the campsite expansion and mentioned that the higher fire risk was due to illegal camping. Free State Park passes for 4th Graders and family

Thanks to the partnership of First Partner’s Office and the Natural Resources Agency which created this new pilot program “The California State Park Adventure Pass”, fourth graders and their families can now visit California State Parks for free for an entire year.
