York River State Park is inviting visitors who love autumn season to kayak or canoe through the emerging fall foliage on October 16, 2021.

There will be a guide present from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. This 2-hour event is open to all skill levels and for those aged 7 years and older.

Paddlers will explore all of Taskinas Creek — a rare and diverse habitat with freshwater and saltwater marine and plant life — and possibly venture out into the York River depending on weather and water conditions. Distance will total about 1½ or 2 miles.

Participants can bring their own boats or rent canoes or kayaks — solo or tandem — from the park office. Everyone must wear a personal flotation device and go through a safety briefing and instructional session on basic paddling skills.
