Michigan State Park Fees have gone up this year by $2 to as much as $8 per night depending on the campground type and day. While some parks have an increase of about $10 per night for cabin rentals. This is the first increase in fees in the last 4 years.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says that the 30% increase in park attendance has caused an increase in maintenance and daily operating costs of the state parks.

The DNR says camping and lodging fees account for 51% of the money used to operate state parks and this increase would greatly help the maintenance of the state parks in Michigan.
