A growing problem of homeless encampments have littered public spaces with drug paraphernalia and human waste have forced to shut down Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park.

The so-called “rehabilitation” efforts are unclear whether the latest drive to clean up Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park will be met with similar dispute seen across the city in the last months where protesters blocked city crews trying to clear a homeless encampment in Echo Park last March, in where dozens were arrested. In contrast to what’s happening on the other side in Venice beach where a “safe camping” program was launch to protect tents from being removed.

This scenario drew outcry from residents as they seek the recall of L.A. City Councilman Mike Bonin over the initiative.
