Spanning just over 700-acres, this stunning Ohio state park offers a range of recreational activities for everyone.

One of the main attractions of Quail Hollow State Park is the Quail Hollow Manor, a historic home that was built in the 19th century and is now open to the public for tours.

In addition, the park also features several trails for hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing, as well as a fishing pond, multiple picnic areas and a primitive campground. It even has a Nature Center that offers educational programs and exhibits about the park’s natural and cultural history.

Situated just over an hour from Cleveland and only 30 minutes from Akron, the park is very easy to get to. This makes it the perfect place for a digital detox or weekend getaway, when you need to reconnect with nature.

Quail Hollow Manor at Quail Hollow State Park

Built in the 19th century, Quail Hollow Manor is a historic home located within the park. Originally it was constructed by the H.B. Stewart family. However, it was later purchased by Harry F. Firestone, the founder of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company.

Today, the Quail Hollow Manor is open to the public for tours. Visitors can explore the elegant interior of the home, which features a variety of period furnishings, artwork, and decor.

The tour also provides a glimpse into the lives of the families who lived in the home and offers a fascinating look at Ohio’s history and culture.

In addition to the manor, the park also includes several outbuildings, including a barn, carriage house, and ice house, which have been restored and are open to the public for exploration.

Boating at Quail Hollow State Park

If you have a penchant for boating, the park’s 40-acre Quail Hollow Lake is a beautiful place to spend a day on the water.

Visitors can rent boats from the park’s concession stand or bring their own non-motorized boats, such as canoes, kayaks, and rowboats with them.

Boaters should note that gas-powered boats are not allowed on the lake. They must also adhere to the park’s rules and regulations with regards to safety equipment like lifejackets.

Fishing at Quail Hollow State Park

Quail Hollow Lake is a prime location for fishing. The lake is stocked with a variety of fish, including largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill.

Anglers can fish in the lake from the shore or from a non-motorized boat. Fishing is also allowed in the park’s streams and wetlands.

In order to fish at the park you will need a valid Ohio fishing license if you are over the age of 16.

Hiking at Quail Hollow State Park

Like with many state and national parks or forests, Quail Hollow State Park is a very popular destination for hiking.

Overall it has more than 8 miles of trails that wind their way through a mix of forests, fields, and wetlands.

As well as providing a good work out, these trails offer excellent opportunities for photography and wildlife watching.

Before heading out on the trails it is worth being prepared. This includes wearing a hat and comfortable footwear, as well as plenty of sunscreen and mosquito spray.

It is also worth carrying lots of water and some food with you.

Picnicking at Quail Hollow State Park

Primitive group camping is available on a first come first served basis at Quail Hollow State Park. However, you will need to pack in and pack out all of your belongings.

If you would prefer to stay at a campground with a few more accommodation options and amenities, there are several in the surrounding area you can choose from.

These include the Clay’s Park Resort, Berlin RV Park & Campground, Clearwater Park and Woodside Lake Park.

All of these campgrounds are within easy reach of the park and feature tent and RV sites that come with hook ups for electricity and water, as well as well-furnished cabins.

Amenities you can use, depending on which one you choose, may include a swimming pool, children’s playground, a camp store and jacuzzi.
