Three Lakes

Parvin is unique among New Jersey state parks for its three distinct bodies of water. Parvin Lake is the largest, featuring the swimming beach and campground. Thundergust Lake hosts the park’s 18 furnished cabins (swimming is not permitted here). Muddy Run offers a more secluded fishing and paddling experience. All three support electric-motor-only boating, canoeing, and fishing for bass, sunfish, and other species.

Camping and Cabins

The park’s 56 campsites along Parvin Lake’s south shore include fire rings, picnic tables, and lantern hooks, with nearby flush toilets, hot showers, and a playground. The 18 furnished cabins on Thundergust Lake offer a more comfortable stay with kitchen, bathroom with shower, and wood-burning fireplace/stove. Four group campsites accommodate up to 25 people each. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance at camping.nj.gov.

Trails and Nature

The park’s trail system winds through pine-oak forests, swamp habitats, and lakeside paths. The diverse ecosystem supports excellent birding, wildlife observation, and nature photography. Spring wildflower displays and fall foliage make seasonal visits particularly rewarding.
