Though the no-swimming advisory was lifted already for Widewater State Park with Aquila Creek deemed clear, the advisory still stands for Lake Anna because of cyanobacteria and harmful algae bloom in the area.

On September 9, representatives of the Virginia Department of Health collected samples from Lake Anna and the findings show that there are still harmful algae bloom though at a lower level compared to previous tests.

Cyanobacteria cause skin rashes and stomach flu. The no-swim advisory is expected to be lifted as soon as traces of cyanobacteria are considerably lowered.
