Patrick Point State Park (California) might be getting back its original name

The Yurok Tribe requested that the Patrick Point State Park in California be reverted back to its original name, SueMeg State Park. This was the Park’s original name until 1800. The park was given its current name to commemorate Patrick Began, who was accused of murder by Native Americans during that time. The name change proposal stemmed from “ Past Initiative”, a California State project. California State Park has no objections and supports reverting back to the Park’s original name. A crowded park, worsening wildfire danger sparks battle

LOS ANGELES — The Auburn State Recreation Area occupies 40 miles of steep river canyons and rugged terrain in drought-stricken El Dorado and Placer counties. Rohnert Park council looks to apply for state funds to house the homeless
