Scientists warn about more State Fires due to lightning and climate change

Due to climate change and alteration in the landscape in the West, scientists warn how lightning might ignite more wildfires. Lightning caused 40% of wildfires in the West according to the US Forest Service. Their study predicts that there would be a 12% increase in lightning strikes for each degree Celsius of increase in the temperature. If people continue to burn coal and fossil fuels, an anticipated 50% increase in lightning strikes is likely to happen. Source Photo credit: Noah Berger - AP
