Funter Bay State Marine Park is a remote state marine park on the northern tip of Admiralty Island, approximately 15 miles southwest of Juneau in Southeast Alaska, managed by Alaska State Parks (DPOR). The park features primitive backcountry camping on the shores of Funter Bay, no road access — accessible only by boat or floatplane from Juneau, temperate rainforest shoreline with Sitka spruce and western hemlock, protected anchorage in Funter Bay for recreational boaters, kayaking access along the Admiralty Island coastline, brown bear habitat — Admiralty Island is known as “Fortress of the Bears” with one of the highest brown bear densities on Earth, whale watching for humpback whales in adjacent waters, seal and sea lion sightings, the historic Funter Bay townsite with remnants of early settlement, and no developed facilities — no water, no restrooms, fully self-sufficient wilderness access required.
