The park features a 66-site campground with electric and water hookups, 14 miles of hiking trails, three small fishing lakes, outdoor swimming pool, miniature golf course, paddleboat rentals, restored historic log cabin and one-room schoolhouse, picnic areas with shelters, and a playground.

Campground and Facilities

The park’s 66-site campground offers water and 30-amp electric hookups at each site, along with 10 group camping sites for larger gatherings. Facilities include a modern bathhouse with hot showers, picnic tables, fire rings, and a camp store. The campground operates seasonally from spring through fall, with reservations recommended during summer weekends. The park recommends traveling via Route 5 through Glenville when arriving with larger campers.

Trails and Natural Features

The park’s 14 miles of hiking trails wind through rolling Appalachian terrain of mixed hardwood forests, following Cedar Creek and its tributaries through valleys and ridgelines. The diverse forest of oak, hickory, beech, and maple provides excellent fall foliage viewing and supports populations of white-tailed deer, wild turkey, squirrel, and numerous songbird species. Spring wildflower displays along the creek corridors attract nature photographers and botanists.

Fishing and Water Recreation

Three small fishing lakes within the park provide bank fishing opportunities for bass, bluegill, and catfish. Paddleboat rentals allow visitors to explore the lakes from the water. Cedar Creek itself offers additional fishing access for adventurous anglers willing to hike along the creek corridor.

Pioneer Heritage Sites

The park preserves two significant pioneer heritage structures. The campground check-in station is housed in a fully restored log cabin that was a Gilmer County historical landmark. The Pine Run One-Room School, built in 1910 and relocated to the park in 1989, is furnished with period items including a pot-bellied stove and student desks, and is generally open for tours on Saturdays during summer.
