LeFleur’s Bluff State Park is a 305-acre state park on the Pearl River within the city limits of Jackson, Hinds County, Mississippi, managed by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP). The park features 28 developed campsites with water and electrical hookups for tents and RVs, a bathhouse with hot showers and laundry facilities, 10 shaded primitive tent camping sites near the fishing lake, a central sewage dumping station, a fishing lake stocked with largemouth bass, bream, and catfish, a nature trail along the Pearl River corridor through bottomland hardwood forest, adjacency to the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science — one of the state’s best natural history museums, a 9-hole golf course, picnic areas with reservable covered pavilions, a playground, a disc golf course, and a rare urban camping experience within walking distance of Jackson’s Fondren District, restaurants, and downtown attractions.

LeFleur’s Bluff is Mississippi’s only urban state park — the ability to camp within the capital city while surrounded by Pearl River greenspace, fishing, and mature forest is genuinely unique in the Deep South. The adjacent Mississippi Museum of Natural Science with its aquariums, habitat exhibits, and nature trails adds exceptional educational value for families.

The park is named for Louis LeFleur, a French-Canadian trader who established a trading post on this Pearl River bluff in the late 1700s — the settlement that eventually became Jackson, Mississippi’s state capital.
