Holmes County State Park has been a quiet retreat for Mississippi anglers and campers since its development by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s. The park’s two lakes are stocked with largemouth bass and bream, and the rolling terrain of pine and hardwood forest provides a scenic contrast to the flat Delta lowlands just to the west.

The CCC-era construction is still visible in the park’s stone and timber structures, giving it a historic character typical of Depression-era state parks across the South.
