Florewood River Plantation State Park (now a Leflore County property) is a former state park near Greenwood, Leflore County, in the Mississippi Delta region, originally managed by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. The park was established in 1973 as a living historical plantation featuring a reconstructed 1850s cotton plantation with period buildings, cotton gin demonstrations, and costumed interpreters bringing antebellum Delta life to the public, a scenic lake with public fishing access (which may still be available), historic farm buildings and outbuildings preserved from the plantation era, former film location for motion pictures seeking authentic Mississippi Delta settings, and an educational facility that once attracted school groups from across the region.

At its peak, Florewood was a unique educational attractioncostumed interpreters demonstrated cotton ginning, blacksmithing, candle making, and other antebellum crafts while explaining the complex history of plantation agriculture in the Mississippi Delta.

The park’s decline and closure reflected broader challenges facing Mississippi’s state park system — falling attendance, budget constraints, and the difficulty of maintaining a living history site in a rural area. The Legislature authorized its disposal in 2005, and it was leased to Leflore County in 2007.
