Frequently Asked Questions

What is Buccaneer Bay Water Park?

Buccaneer Bay is an on-site water park featuring a massive 460,000-gallon wave pool (Pirate’s Lagoon) that generates 8 different wave patterns for body surfing and tubing! There’s also the enclosed Pirate’s Plank slide, the twisting Pirate’s Plunge slide, and Lil’ Smuggler’s Cove for kids. The water park operates from Memorial Day through early September with Gulf views throughout.

Can I camp on the beach?

While direct beach camping may be limited, the park offers 70 Gulf View sites overlooking the Gulf of Mexico with water and electric hookups. Premium beachfront RV camping is available, letting you wake up to spectacular Gulf sunsets and sunrises!

What hookups are available?

The park has 206 premium sites with full hookups—30/50 amp electrical, water, and sewer connections. An additional 70 Gulf View sites have water and electric, and 25 primitive sites are available for basic camping. All sites include picnic tables, BBQ grills, and fire pits.

Why the pirate theme?

The pirate theme pays homage to the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s colorful 18th-century history of buccaneers and privateers. The name “Buccaneer” and water park attractions like “Pirate’s Lagoon” and “Smuggler’s Cove” celebrate this swashbuckling heritage!

Should I make reservations?

Highly recommended! Especially for peak season (summer), water park season, and holiday weekends. The Gulf View sites in particular book up quickly. Reserve through the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.
