Boating at Lake Casa Blanca International State Park
Boating is a very popular activity on the lake, and as there are limited wake restrictions, many people choose to spend their afternoons cruising around it. Activities like water skiing and jet skiing are also well practiced here, as are kayaking, pontooning, SUP and canoeing. If love the idea of hitting the water but don’t have a water vessel of your own then you can always rent out a kayak, paddle boat or tubes, as well as boating supplies from Chloe’s Convenience Store. You’ll find this within the park, by the lake.
Fishing at Lake Casa Blanca International State Park
Lake Casa Blanca is renowned for its excellent fishing potential. Open all year round, the lake has plenty of carp, largemouth bass, crappie, hybrid striped bass and channel catfish within its sparkling waters. As well as casting a line from the shore, the park has two distinct fishing areas. One of which is the pier, while the other is a boat ramp, which enables you to launch your vessel into it. Fishing gear can be loaned out from the park if you didn’t bring rods and reels with you.
Trails at Lake Casa Blanca International State Park
For those who want to explore the park’s stunning landscape there are four multi-purpose trails available for hiking and mountain biking. All of these trails fall within the easy or moderate level of difficulty, so they can be enjoyed by visitors of most levels of fitness and ability. Some of the trails will take you to notable scenic areas, while others guide you to sections of the park which offer tranquility and wildlife watching opportunities. Here are the four trails at Lake Casa Blanca International State Park:
- trail 1 – Roadrunner Trail. Length: 1 mile Degree of Difficulty: easy
- trail 2 – White-tail Loop. Length: 1 mile Degree of Difficulty: easy
- trail 3 – Mesquite Bend Trail. Length: 2.5 miles Degree of Difficulty: easy-moderate
- trail 4 – Osprey Hill Loop. Length: 0.8 miles Degree of Difficulty: moderate
Whichever trail you attempt be sure to pick up a map from the main office, put on appropriate footwear and take plenty of water and sunscreen with you.
Birding at Lake Casa Blanca International State Park
Lake Casa Blanca State Park provides a natural habitat for many different species of birds. So it is worth bringing your binoculars and cameras with you to the park. Once you get there you should pick up a copy of the Birds of Lake Casa Blanca Field Checklist, as this guide will help you in your search for certain breeds. The guide provides further information about the 200+ species that reside in the park on either a permanent or seasonal basis. It also classifies what season you can expect to see them in and your general chances of seeing them. Depending on what time of year you visit the park you could see the likes of Pied-billed Grebe, Buff-breasted Sandpiper, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Bewick’s Wrens and Audubon’s Oriole.
Pets at Lake Casa Blanca International State Park
Pets are welcome at the park, but throughout your stay there, you will need to keep them leashed and supervised. Other restrictions on their presence may also be in place. So it is worth getting in touch with the main office to determine what they are.
Camping at Lake Casa Blanca International State Park
For those who want to spend a few nights at the park, the Lake Casa Blanca RV Campground is open all year round. Multi-looped, it offers several levels of hookups which range from full-hookup sites that come with connections for water, sewer and 50 amp electrical service, to sites that offer 50 amp electric and water. Overall there are 66 sites available, 11 of which are full hookup and all of which are pet-friendly. Each of these sites have paved driveways, as well as picnic tables, a lantern post and fire rings with a grill grate. Some of them can accommodate RVs and trailers which are as much as 143 feet in length. Amenities at the campground include hot showers, flush toilets, and a dump station. Visitors should be aware that the period between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am are designated as quiet hours, so must be considerate of others.
