About D River

D River State Recreation Site in Lincoln City is home to the D River โ€” once recognized by Guinness World Records as the shortest river in the world at just 120 feet long! The D River connects Devils Lake to the Pacific Ocean in a dramatic rush through the beach. The wide, sandy beach here is one of the most popular on the Oregon coast and hosts the famous Lincoln City Kite Festival twice a year, attracting kite flyers from around the world.

Things to Do

Beach activities are the star โ€” swimming (with caution in the cold Pacific), beachcombing, kite flying, and building sand castles. The spring and fall Kite Festivals are major events with professional demonstrations. Winter storm watching from the beach is thrilling when massive Pacific waves crash ashore. The site connects to Lincoln City’s mile-long beach promenade and the town’s casino and shopping district.

Getting There

Located in the heart of Lincoln City along Highway 101 on the central Oregon coast. Large parking area directly adjacent to the beach. Free to visit โ€” no day-use fees.
