Wildlife & Nature
Collier Memorial State Park — one of Oregon’s unique heritage parks — combines outdoor recreation with an exceptional logging museum featuring the largest collection of historic logging equipment in the western United States. The park sits at 4,233 feet elevation in the Klamath Basin where Spring Creek (one of Oregon’s largest natural springs) produces 60,000 gallons per minute of crystal-clear 42°F water. The creek and the Williamson River support one of North America’s most productive wild trout fisheries. Bull trout (ESA-threatened) and native redband rainbow trout thrive in the cold, clean water. Osprey nesting platforms line the river. Bald eagles — which concentrate in the Klamath Basin in one of the largest winter gatherings in the Lower 48 — fish the river year-round.
