Jack London SHP — 1,400 acres in Glen Ellen (Sonoma Valley) — preserves the Beauty Ranch of Jack London — America’s most popular author of the early 20th century (The Call of the Wild, White Fang, Martin Eden). London was an extraordinary figure: oyster pirate, gold prospector, war correspondent, sailor, rancher, and socialist activist. His Wolf House — a massive stone mansion — burned under mysterious circumstances in 1913, just days before the Londons were to move in. The ruins remain.
