Lake George Beach Day Use Area, also known as Million Dollar Beach, is a public swimming beach on the southern shore of Lake George in Warren County, New York, run by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). It is not a state park, and there is no camping at the beach itself; DEC’s Lake George Battleground Campground is within walking distance.

Location & Getting There
The beach is at 139 Beach Road, Lake George, NY 12845, within walking distance of the village of Lake George. DEC gives its GPS position as 43.416575, -73.703569. The entrance road and parking lots are paved with porous asphalt, which DEC uses to keep sediment and the pollutants attached to it out of the lake.
Things to Do
The main draw is a large swimming beach. The beach house has changing rooms, restrooms and showers, and you will find a volleyball court on the sand plus picnic tables and grills by the beach. Next to the beach, DEC runs a public boat launch with a dock, a boat inspection station and a boat wash. Inspection and washing are free and help stop the spread of aquatic invasive species. The launch is open through the boating season, from ice-out to ice formation. A beach wheelchair is available first come, first served while lifeguards are on duty.
Best Time to Visit
The beach is a summer facility: in 2026 it was open from May 23 to September 7 (DEC, as of October 2026). Swimming is allowed only when a lifeguard is on duty and only in the designated area. DEC notes that staffing can limit swimming hours or days and that beach hours are posted on site, so check with the facility before you plan a swim.
Visitor Tips
DEC charges a day use fee of $10 per car, $5 per motorcycle and $50 per bus (as of October 2026). Pets are prohibited at all DEC day use areas, so leave your dog at home. Glass, alcohol and smoking are not allowed. Gas, food, supplies and lodging are available in the village of Lake George.
