Quaddick State Park
Located in the “Quiet Corner” of northeastern Connecticut, Quaddick State Park is a classic New England lakeside destination. Originally a site for Nipmuck fishing and later a town farm, today it serves as a popular summer playground on the shores of the Middle Quaddick Reservoir.
Sandy Beach
A spacious swimming beach draws visitors from across the region on hot summer days.
Boating Hub
The reservoir is ideal for boating, water skiing, and sailing, with a convenient public boat launch.
Picner’s Choice
Extensive picnic areas, open fields, and pavilions make it a top spot for family gatherings and reunions.
Reservoir Recreation
The 203-acre Middle Quaddick Reservoir is the heart of the park. Unlike many quiet lakes, this reservoir allows for more active water sports, including water skiing and jet skiing, though it also has quiet coves for canoeing and fishing. The Cool, clean water and well-maintained beach area make it a refreshing escape.
Rich History
Before it was a park, this land was a fishing ground for the Nipmuck Indians and later the Thompson Town Farm, where elderly residents were cared for in the 19th century.
Day Use and Hiking
Quaddick is primarily a day-use park (no camping), perfect for a full day of outdoor fun. A 1.5-mile loop trail offers an easy, scenic hike through the woods, while open sports fields provide space for volleyball, frisbee, or softball. In winter, when the ice is safe, the reservoir becomes a destination for ice skating and ice fishing.
