Alaska Interior’s Road-Accessible Fishing Gem — Stocked Rainbow Trout & Coho Salmon, 103 Campsites, Two Lakes, Two Boat Ramps, Two Cabins, Swimming Beach Near Delta Junction

Quartz Lake State Recreation Area is a state recreation area at Mile 278.8 of the Richardson Highway near Delta Junction in Alaska’s Interior. The area features two lakes — Quartz Lake and Lost Lake — with 103 campsites (16 loop + 87 parking), two boat ramps, a handicap-accessible fishing dock, two public-use rental cabins, swimming beach, volleyball court, picnic shelter, and annually stocked rainbow trout and coho salmon — some of the best road-accessible fishing in Interior Alaska.

Quartz Lake SRA is one of Interior Alaska’s premier road-accessible fishing destinations. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game annually stocks both rainbow trout and coho salmon, creating exceptional fishing in a region where road-accessible quality fishing is limited. Quartz Lake — the larger of the two — offers 16 campsites in a loop plus 87 parking/camping sites, two boat ramps, and a handicap-accessible fishing dock. The quieter Lost Lake provides 12 more secluded campsites. Two public-use cabins are available for rent. A swimming beach and volleyball court round out the recreation. The area sits along the Richardson Highway, Alaska’s oldest road, connecting Valdez to Fairbanks — making it a natural stopping point for highway travelers.
