Frequently Asked Questions
What is blackwater?
Blackwater rivers get their dark color from tannins โ organic acids released by decomposing leaves and bark. The acidic, low-oxygen water is actually very clean and supports unique fish and amphibian communities adapted to these unusual conditions.
