Merchants Millpond SP — 3,252 acres — features a 200-year-old millpond with an enchanted landscape of bald cypress and tupelo gum trees draped in Spanish moss, resurrection fern, and mistletoe. The park’s swamp, coastal plain forest, and millpond support black bears, river otters, and barred owls. Alligators and cottonmouths inhabit the swamp. The canoe trail is one of the most beautiful in the Southeast.
