🏆🏆🏆🏆 Western Finger Lake — Public boat launch on Conesus Lake — the westernmost of the Finger Lakes, known for excellent fishing
Conesus Lake Boat Launch provides public access to Conesus Lake — the westernmost of the 11 Finger Lakes. At 8 miles long and 66 feet deep, Conesus is one of the smaller Finger Lakes, but it’s a local favorite for bass, pike, and walleye fishing. The name “Conesus” comes from the Seneca word meaning “always beautiful” — and the lake lives up to its name. The western Finger Lakes region is home to some of the finest agricultural land in New York — the glacially deposited soil and moderate lake-effect climate create perfect conditions for farming and viticulture.

The Finger Lakes were carved by massive glacial tongues during the Ice Age — each lake fills a deep valley scoured by mile-thick ice sheets that retreated 12,000 years ago.

Frequently Asked Questions
What was the Sullivan-Clinton Campaign?
In 1779, George Washington ordered Generals Sullivan and Clinton to destroy the Iroquois Confederacy — which had allied with Britain. The expedition burned 40+ villages, destroyed 160,000+ bushels of corn, and killed orchards. The campaign devastated the Haudenosaunee homeland but failed to end the alliance. Many Iroquois fled to Canada, never returning. Washington earned the Seneca name “Town Destroyer.”
