Delta Reservoir was created by damming the Mohawk River to feed the Barge Canal, and Delta Lake State Park takes up the low, wooded peninsula that the rising water left behind. The terrain is generally flat, which makes it an easy park: a short walk from any campsite gets you to the shore, the nature trails stay gentle, and in winter the same paths groom into cross-country ski loops. The beach looks east across the reservoir toward the Adirondack foothills, and the boat launch puts anglers and paddlers on the reservoir.

Trails and Winter
The park has a network of hiking and nature trails through the peninsula’s woods — trail maps are available from the park. In winter the trails are used for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, and snowmobile trails cross the park.
