Wildlife & Nature

Lake Wenatchee State Park — 489 acres at the confluence of the Wenatchee River and Lake Wenatchee in the Central Cascades — straddles a magnificent glacier-carved lake surrounded by mountain peaks reaching 7,000+ feet. The 5-mile lake’s turquoise glacial water is fed by snowmelt from the Glacier Peak Wilderness. Sockeye salmon return to the Wenatchee River each fall — one of the most important runs in the Columbia Basin. Black bears are common (food storage required). Mule deer and elk browse the meadows. Osprey fish from heights. The park is a winter recreation hub with groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails.
