Little Moose is a public reserved lot in the Moosehead Lake region โ€” Maine’s largest lake at 117 square miles (40 miles long!). Moosehead Lake is so large that it creates its own weather patterns, and the surrounding wilderness is home to one of the densest moose populations in the lower 48 states. The first recorded ascent of nearby Mount Kineo (by European Americans) was in 1836, and the Kineo flint from the mountain was traded by Native peoples across eastern North America for thousands of years.

The area preserves shoreline access to this vast wilderness lake, surrounded by thousands of acres of unbroken forest. Moosehead Lake is one of the most remote large lakes in the eastern United States.
