Rockin’ River Ranch State Park is one of Arizona’s newest state parks, a 209-acre former working ranch at the confluence of West Clear Creek and the Verde River near Camp Verde. Shaded by towering sycamores and cottonwoods, it protects one of the lushest riparian corridors in the Verde Valley — a green counterpoint to the surrounding high desert.

Things to Do
Six scenic trails wind through a mature mesquite bosque and along the Verde River under sycamore and cottonwood canopy — easy, mostly level walking that suits families and birders. The river corridor supports javelina, deer, beaver, and river otters, and the birding is among the best in the Verde Valley. Anglers can fish the Verde River; bring your own gear and an Arizona fishing license.
Best Time to Visit
Fall through spring is ideal: mild temperatures, golden cottonwood color in November, and active wildlife along the river. Summers are hot, but the shaded riparian corridor stays noticeably cooler than the open desert — go early in the day.
Visitor Tips
The park is day-use only — there is no camping on site. Entrance fees are charged per vehicle ($10 for one person, $20 for 2–4 people; $5 for individuals or cyclists). Note the unusual schedule: the park is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Check the official Arizona State Parks page for current hours, fees, and conditions before visiting (details verified June 2026).
