Frequently Asked Questions

Can you really swim at the summit?

Yes! Tumbledown Pond sits in a glacial cirque just below the summit โ€” it’s one of the few places in Maine where you can swim at the top of a mountain. The water is cold but the setting is unforgettable โ€” cliffs rising above, panoramic views below.

The dramatic cliff faces and open summit offer some of the finest mountain scenery in the state.
