Brushy Lake Park is a public recreation area on the 358-acre Brushy Lake in the Cookson Hills of eastern Oklahoma, approximately 6 miles north of Sallisaw in Sequoyah County. Formerly an Oklahoma state park, the site is now owned and managed by the City of Sallisaw. The park features 23 concrete campsites with 30/50-amp electrical and water hookups, a lighted boat ramp and dock, walk-out fishing dock, group pavilions with electricity, playground, comfort stations with showers, walking and biking trails, and a quiet secluded setting in the wooded Cookson Hills.

The park is situated in the scenic Cookson Hills, a rugged and heavily forested region of eastern Oklahoma known for its rolling oak-hickory woodlands, wildlife diversity, and quiet rural character. The 358-acre Brushy Lake features approximately 4 miles of shoreline surrounded by dense forest, creating an exceptionally peaceful and secluded environment for camping, fishing, and nature observation.
Camping and Facilities
The park offers 23 concrete campsites with water and 30/50-amp electrical hookups. A sanitary dump station is located at the entrance. Camping is first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. Group pavilions with electricity can be reserved through Sallisaw City Hall at (918) 775-6241. Additional facilities include a playground, comfort stations with showers, and ADA-compliant accessibility features. The park is pet-friendly.
Fishing and Boating
The lake offers good fishing for largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill, and crappie. A lighted boat ramp and boat dock provide convenient water access, while a walk-out fishing dock enables bank fishing without a boat. The lake’s sheltered position in the Cookson Hills typically provides calmer water conditions than the larger Oklahoma reservoirs.
