The Fiery Gizzard Trail is a 12.8-mile hiking trail in Fiery Gizzard State Park near Tracy City, Tennessee. It runs one way from the North Trailhead at Grundy Forest to the South Trailhead at Foster Falls, and the park rates it hard. Until October 2025 the trail belonged to South Cumberland State Park, which Tennessee has since renamed after it.

Location & Getting There
The North Trailhead at Grundy Forest, near Tracy City, has a picnic pavilion, restrooms and an information kiosk. The trail ends at the Foster Falls trailhead in the south of the park. The park’s coordinates are 35.2508, -85.7487.
What You’ll See
The trail passes several waterfalls and overlooks and the swimming hole at Sycamore Falls. Side trails add more: the Dog Hole Trail (2.85 miles, moderate) leads to Werner Point Overlook, Yellow Pine Falls and Sycamore Falls, the Ravens Point Spur (0.35 mile, hard) to the Ravens Point Overlook, and the Grundy Forest Day Loop (2 miles, moderate) to waterfalls and swimming holes near the north trailhead.
Planning Your Hike
Because the trail runs one way, plan a car shuttle between the two trailheads, or hike part of it as an out-and-back. Entry to Tennessee state parks is free. The park’s visitor center near Monteagle has restrooms and a gift shop.
