San Bruno Mountain SP — 2,326 acres rising to 1,314 feet — is the last large open space on the San Francisco Peninsula with 360-degree views of San Francisco, the Bay, the Pacific, and the coastal mountains. The mountain is a critical refuge for two federally endangered butterflies: the Mission blue butterfly and the San Bruno elfin butterfly. Red-tailed hawks and northern harriers hunt the grasslands.
