Things to Do
There is nothing to do on site: Damon Point is closed to all public access. Grays Harbor County announced on January 27, 2025 that the Washington Department of Natural Resources had closed all access because of severe erosion, and the City of Ocean Shores has posted no-trespassing signs. In October 2026 the DNR and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife still listed Damon Point as closed, citing dangerous tidal conditions. Source: Grays Harbor County.

Wildlife & Nature
Damon Point State Park — a 61-acre sand spit at the southern entrance to Grays Harbor on the Washington coast — juts into one of the largest estuaries on the Pacific Coast. The spit is a premier shorebird migration stopover — each spring, hundreds of thousands of western sandpipers, dunlin, and short-billed dowitchers refuel here during their journey from Central America to Arctic breeding grounds. Snowy plovers — a threatened species — nest on the open sand. Harbor seals and gray whales are spotted offshore. The park provides beach access for razor clamming (during open seasons). Views stretch across the harbor to Westport.

Westport — across the harbor — offers deep-sea fishing charters and whale-watching tours. Ocean Shores is adjacent with beach driving, kite flying, and the Weatherwax Trail. Bowerman Basin in the Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge (adjacent) is one of the top shorebird viewing sites in North America. Ocean City State Park is 3 miles north.
