Devils Punch Bowl State Natural Area
๐๐๐๐๐ Oregon Coast Icon โ Spectacular collapsed sea cave forming a churning ocean cauldron โ one of Oregon’s most photographed natural wonders
Devils Punch Bowl State Natural Area protects one of the Oregon Coast’s most dramatic geological features โ a massive, bowl-shaped rock formation created when the roof of two sea caves collapsed. At high tide, Pacific waves surge into the bowl, creating a churning, frothing cauldron of whitewater that sounds like thunder. At low tide, visitors can scramble down to the beach below and explore the caves and tide pools. The adjacent headland provides a spectacular viewpoint over the bowl and south along the coast to Otter Rock.

About Devils Punch Bowl
Devils Punch Bowl State Natural Area features one of the Oregon coast’s most dramatic geological formations โ a massive, collapsed sea cave that creates a natural “punch bowl” where waves crash through tunnels in the rock and churn violently in the enclosed basin. At high tide during winter storms, the spectacle is truly thunderous. The formation was carved over thousands of years by the relentless Pacific surf.
