Independence Mall State Park is a landscaped urban park in the heart of Philadelphia’s historic district โ€” directly adjacent to Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence (1776) and the United States Constitution (1787) were signed! This is arguably the most historically significant piece of ground in America. The Liberty Bell sits at the north end of the Mall. Independence Hall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Philadelphia served as the nation’s capital from 1790โ€“1800, and the First Continental Congress met here in 1774. The Mall was created in the 1950sโ€“1960s by demolishing several city blocks.
