Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a good alternative to Cannon Beach?

If you want a wide, quiet beach without crowds, yes. Manhattan Beach sees far fewer visitors than Cannon Beach or Seaside. It’s also closer to Tillamook Creamery and the cheese trail.

How do I dig razor clams?

Watch for a dimple in the sand at low tide — that’s the clam’s siphon hole. Dig quickly with a clam shovel or gun — razor clams can dig faster than you. An Oregon shellfish license is required. Limit is typically 15 clams per person.

Nearby state parks: If you have extra time, Nehalem Bay State Park is a short drive away, and Cape Meares State Park is a short drive away.
