Paynetown SRA
⚓ Your Gateway to Monroe Lake Fun – Updated 2025
The Hub of Monroe Lake
Paynetown State Recreation Area (SRA) is the beating heart of outdoor activity on Monroe Lake, Indiana’s largest reservoir. Located just southeast of Bloomington, this bustling park is the go-to destination for campers, boaters, and beachgoers looking for a full-service lakeside experience.
Unlike quieter, more primitive parks, Paynetown is alive with energy. It features a massive campground with over 200 sites, a popular swimming beach, and a full-service marina where you can rent everything from pontoon boats to double-decker party barges. Whether you are here to fish for bass, learn about local wildlife at the Activity Center, or simply roast s’mores by a campfire under the oaks, Paynetown provides the perfect launchpad for your Monroe Lake adventure.
